The Unicorn Theatre is the UK’s leading theatre for audiences aged 2-21, serving over 50,000 children, young people and families every year through its professional performances, participation and other events.
Founded in 1947 by Caryl Jenner, the company originally operated out of the back of a van, and toured theatre for children into schools and community centres. The Unicorn was subsequently based at the Arts Theatre in London’s West End for many years, before moving into its current home at London Bridge in 2005.
Today, the Unicorn building has two theatres, two rehearsal rooms and four floors of public space dedicated to producing and presenting work for audiences aged 2 to 21.
It is a central part of the Unicorn’s mission to commission new work, to tour, to be accessible to all and to encourage exchange and collaboration between theatre-makers from different countries and traditions, coming together to develop ideas and projects.
