The Scottish Parliament Visitor Centre
The Water of Leith Visitor Centre
Trinity House
The impressive, modern and colourful Visitor Centre is the focal point for the Parliament presenting itself to the general public and special interest groups in a user-friendly way. It is a key indicator that the Parliament is satisfying the strong public demand for information as well as for educating visitors and raising awareness of the role and the function of the Scottish Parliament. It is something that does not exist at Westminster.
These facilities aim to inform visitors about the Parliament in a way that is accessible and interesting to a wide variety of people including educational organisations and overseas visitors by stimulating curiosity. The displays offer a range of information for the casual visitor as well as more interested parties.
Free Guided Tours
Tours are free of charge and usually include a visit to the Debating Chamber, the Garden Lobby and a Committee Room. They include detailed information about the work, history and procedures of the Scottish Parliament. The tour also includes information about the design and architecture of the building.
You can visit the public areas of the building without going on a guided tour. This normally includes the Debating Chamber (subject to parliamentary business), exhibition, cafe and the shop.
Visitors can observe Parliament in action
Visitors can attend Parliament debates by taking a seat in the public gallery of the Debating Chamber. Visitors require a ticket for a seat and these are free of charge.
Please check our website on the above link for the recess dates before arranging your visit. Parliament is not in session during the recess dates.
