Your visit begins in a reconstructed cruck house, with a collection of domestic bygones. The Leadmining Gallery details the industry which flourished in Swaledale until the end of the 19th century. The Transport Gallery , with its model of Richmond Station, leads to the Herriot Set from the BBC's All Creatures Great and Small, and Barker's Chemist's Shop.
Next is the Wenham Gallery, which covers the history of Richmond and district, and contains a former village Post Office from just up the dale.
The latest addition is a recreation of the Richmond grocer's shop, just round the corner in Frenchgate, where the founder of the Fenwick department store chain began his working life.
