The Harlequin Puppet Theatre, Britain's first permanent puppet theatre, opened on July 7th 1958 in Colwyn Bay in Rhos on Sea. The innovative building won a gold medal for its architect and gained a Civic Trust Award. It was built by Eric Bramall, and, now, over 50 years later remains this country's only purpose-built theatre for puppet playing.
