At the outbreak of the Second World War Lowestoft became the Central Depot of the Royal Naval Patrol Service with it's HQ (HMS Europa) located in the Municipal Gardens known as the Sparrows Nest.
The museum is to be found in these buildings which is also the headquarters of the Royal Naval Patrol Service Association, which means there are always some ex Patrol Service members available to provide a unique in-sight for visitors into the operations of the Patrol Service, and in addition are a great source of information to members of the public who are researching Family Histories.
