The Royal Military School of Music (RMSM), is based at Kneller Hall which is situated near Twickenham, about 9 miles from central London.
Phase Two training for all soldiers in the Corps of Army Music is undertaken on the Foundation Course at RMSM which lasts between 11 and 44 working weeks (depending on the standard of musicianship on entry). This is a rolling course, designed to allow musicians to fulfil their potential early, pass the mandatory tests, and be posted to a band as soon as possible. Further career courses and instrumental training sessions are additionally run at the RMSM.
Tuition at the RMSM is delivered by some of the country's leading instrumental and academic professors, many of them the same people who play in the great London symphony orchestras and teach in the leading London music colleges, thus ensuring strong contemporary links with the world of civilian professional music. The military training and supervision is administered by the best instructors and staff from within the Corps of Army Music and the wider Army.
