The Merchant Adventurers' Hall is one of the best preserved medieval guild halls in the world and is still owned and used by the York Company of Merchant Adventurers who built it over 650 years ago. Construction began in 1357. Explore the Great Hall where business and feasting took place, the Undercroft (or hospital) where poor and sick people were cared for, and Chapel where religious services were conducted. Unique collections of art, furniture and silver and interactive computer exhibits tell its story. An audio tour in English and written guides in foreign languages are also available. Fully accessible to all from the Fossgate entrance.
