Whether you’re hoping for a rare close up view of the ethereal and reclusive Snow Leopard or to see the largest cat of all - the Siberian tiger, an encounter with the big cats at Howletts and Port Lympne Wild Animal Parks will make your visit complete.
Dogs
Ancestors and distant cousins to our domestic canine companions, the dog species at Howletts and Port Lympne Wild Animal Parks come from the four corners of the globe.
An intriguing mix of the familiar and the exotic, these beautiful creatures will captivate and enchant you. Get a glimpse of the Iberian wolves roaming through their wooded enclosure and feel the call of the wild, or check out our bachelor group of African hunting dogs as they go on the prowl. As with all of our enclosures, we strive to maintain enclosure designs that replicate their natural habitats as much as possible.
Howletts and Port Lympne will really open your eyes to how dogs live freely in the wild and will leave you seeing dogs in a wholly new light!
Elephants
They say an elephant never forgets, we say you’ll never forget the African elephants at Howletts and Port Lympne Wild Animal Parks in Kent. Open your eyes and take in the size of our African elephants, coming face to face with these intelligent and majestic creatures is truly a breathtaking experience.
The elephant is the largest land mammal in the world, but sadly the magnificent tusks for which the African elephant is renowned are also one of the main reasons that they are under threat; these ivory tusks make them a lucrative target for hunters.
With their slow, ambling gait these gentle giants are easy to spot as you make your way through the parks.
Gorillas
Undoubtedly the star attraction of Howletts and Port Lympne, the greatest of apes is also sadly one of the most endangered in the wild. Howletts and Port Lympne are world leaders in the captive management and breeding of this magnificent species and to date the parks have had around 130 births! Tucked away in the heart of Kent, it’s amazing to know that our parks have the world’s largest captive collection of this awe-inspiring ape – with a combined total that averages around 70 individuals.
Plus we have so many more animals for you to see and so much more for you to do. So come and have a brilliant time here at Howletts Wild Animal Park.
