This reserve is a major restoration project, reawakening the heathland that was lost here - as in so many places - to commercial forestry. Many hectares of conifers have been cleared, with heather seeds germinating, and rare heathland wildlife such as woodlarks, tree pipits, nightjars and sand lizards returning.
