Stamford Brownes Hospital is an Ancient almshouses, still in use, founded in 1475 by William Browne, a local wool merchant. Fine medieval stained glass can be found in the chapel and Audit Room, original furniture and exhibitions. There is also a cloistered garden. All profits from the opening of Brownes Hospital go towards the maintenance of the Almshouse which currently has 13 residents and receives no outside funding.
