Welcome to Bishop's Boats.
We run daily seal-watching trips from February to November. Departing from the picturesque Blakeney harbour and Morston quay.
We have two traditional clinker-built wooden boats and one smaller boat, the smaller boat is ideal for private charters of up to 12 people or for individual bookings. All groups, schools and birthday parties, for up to 100 people can be catered for at special rates.
Our boats wind their way down the creek before heading out into sheltered waters and onto to the far end of Blakeney Point. Without going out into the open sea, our experienced skipper’s take you to known areas frequented by seals. We guarantee you will see the seals†. However, we ask that you appreciate that we do not control, or attempt to influence their natural behaviour, or habitat, in order to see them.
Here you may observe both common and grey seals from the boats, which are able to get close to the basking seals near the water’s edge. Our knowledgeable crew will tell you all about the seals and the area. There are many species of birds to be seen too.
These seal-watching trips last approximately 1hr when departing from Morston or 1½ hrs from Blakeney.
On some seal trips when tides and conditions allow, we also stop on Blakeney Point Nature Reserve. (Please note, you cannot see the seals when you land on Blakeney Point.) The best vantage point for the seals and tern colony is from the boats, as we are able to get quite close to the shore without causing any disturbance to the wildlife. Special bird watching trips may be provided in the event of a rarity arriving on Blakeney Point. Information will be available by pager where possible.
Booking for all trips is always advisable, particularly during holiday periods and for the limited Blakeney trips. To reserve your places, call free on 08000 740 754 between 8am – 7pm (7 days a week). No payment for advance bookings is required until you collect your ticket. If you need to transfer or cancel a booking, please give at least one hours notice. Tickets must be collected from BLAKENEY QUAY no later than 30 minutes before sailing time.
We operate in all weathers, as long as it is safe to do so. Warm or waterproof clothing is advisable, but if you should be caught out by an unexpected shower, we have waterproof plastic macs available for £1. You can bring a dog, but please keep it on a lead. Private charters are available for all of our boats for up to 100 people at special rates. (Discounts are also available for groups of 12 of more when booked in advance).
Remember, to collect ALL tickets from Blakeney Quay.
If the Ferry is departing from Morston that day, to save paying for a car park ticket, please pull onto the quayside at Blakeney.
