About Alton Water

Based in 400 acres of beautiful Suffolk countryside, Alton Water offers sailing, windsurfing and canoeing for members and day access for visitors. We have a highly acclaimed and long established RYA approved training centre which is the largest and most active RYA training centre in East Anglia. We operate the RYA ONBOARD scheme for training young people and have recently been awarded RYA Volvo Champion Club status in recognition for our race training work.
Sailing
We have a very active and enthusiastic sailing community. We offer year round racing for sailors, the hardest fort series of which is our acclaimed 'Frostbite' series from January to March each year. We now host a wide range of class specific open events, meanwhile our Spring and Autumn open regatta events generally esee more than 50 boats on the water.
Windsurfing
We have a large number of windsurfing members and our T15 'Wipeouts' team have a long established record of successes in regional competitions. With a large grassed rigging area and an excellent sandy beach for launching, and of course the clean water of a reservoir, Alton Water is the ideal location to windsurf.
