The Mill on the Fleet was built in 1788 as a cotton spinning mill and restored as a visitor centre by Dumfries and Galloway Council in the 1980s.
As of 2008 it is also the new Gatehouse Tourist Information Centre, run in partnership with Visit Scotland, an is now an expanded Information Centre in the refurbished space of the Mill's ground floor reception.
The Main Exhibition Floor:
The main exhibition floor is undergoing redevelopment throughout this season but is fully open. A programme of temporary exhibitions is running alongside new exhibits. The displays focus on the history and heritage of Gatehouse, and exploring the Fleet Valley and surrounding areas.
The Faed Gallery:
The Faed Gallery shows a number of temporary exhibitions through the season. It is also the venue for the Mill's programme of talks and lectures.
The Bookshop Gallery:
The Bookshop Gallery on the second floor has a programme of exhibitions running throughout the season.
The River Cafe:
The Mill Cafe provides delicious snacks, sandwiches, light meals and drinks all day. Enjoy the river and its varied wildlife from the open air terrace.
