The Kilmun Forest research plots were established in the 1930s to monitor the success of a variety of exotic tree species in the humid west coast environment.
This area is beautiful and unique in Scotland because there are 162 tree species planted, not individually, but in mini-forests. You won't see single Monkey-Puzzle or Mountain Hemlock trees, but rather you will be able to admire groves of remarkable exotic trees collected from around the world.
