The Wildlife Trust is a conservation charity that works for a better future for all aspects of wildlife in our area.
Bringing people together to take action for wildlife is the Trust’s mission. We manage 129 nature reserves across the three counties of Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Northamptonshire. All are free to visit – and 95% of the population live within five miles of one of our reserves.
Many wildlife species and habitats have disappeared over the past 50 years. The Trust is working not just to protect what remains, but also to increase the numbers and diversity of native wild plants and animals in our countryside. We are not content with protecting what is left – too much has already been lost – instead we want to put something back.
Our work is in five main areas Looking after reserves, Creating new reserves and habitats, Protecting wildlife beyond reserves, Monitoring wildlife and Involving people in conservation.
We strive to base all our work for wildlife on sound knowledge and science. Involving people of all ages and in all communities in our nature conservation work is also very important.
