The section of woodland plantation nearest the road is comprised largely of balsam poplar over thirty years old. The former Central Electricity Generating Board (CEGB) planted it as screening for the sub-station. It is being managed by the Trust for biodiversity and also for the safety of adjoining houses. The mid section of woodland is the oldest, with some very mature oaks, willows and beech trees.
