Battersea Dogs and Cats Home was founded in 1860 and moved to its present site in 1871. Over the years the Home has expanded and is now squeezed in between the landmark building of the old power station (with its four iconic chimneys), train tracks and gas station. People are astonished when they enter the doors of the Home to realise how big it really is, as it looks small from the outside.
